U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and UAE Armed Forces conduct a bilateral live fire exercise utilizing American and Emirate High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers at Al Hamra Combat Training Center, United Arab Emirates, March 16 to the 24th, 2020. Iron Union 13 is an FTX culminating into a combined arms live fire exercise (CALFX) with one U.S. Company/Troop, integrated fires and one UAELF Reconnaissance company in UAE. Participating UAE and U.S. forces are tasked organized into a single combined battalion level task force for operations. The combined battalion level task force establishes an integrated command post staffed with officers from both nations.

Washington-based 301st MEB assumes authority of Area Support Group-Jordan
March 19, 2020 — The 301st MEB, based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, mobilized to the Kingdom of Jordan earlier this month in support of Operation Spartan Shield. They replaced the 655th Regional Support Group of Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts, as the Base Operating Support-Integrator (BOS-I) for U.S. forces in Jordan... MORE

On Sunday, the 655th RSG of Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts, transferred authority of Area Support Group-Jordan to the 301st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade of Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. The 301st MEB joined the 1st Squadron, 303rd Cavalry Regiment, Washington National Guard, which has been in Jordan since November.

The Defeat of Daesh: One Year Later
March 18, 2020 — At the height of their power, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, now referred to as Daesh, operated in 18 different countries and had an annual budget of $1 billion with an estimated 30,000 members. They conducted ground attacks on both government forces and any other force that opposed them. Their goal: to establish a so-called caliphate in the region. On August 7th, 2014, the U.S.-led coalition launched airstrikes against Daesh. On March 23rd, 2019, the Pentagon announced the physical defeat of the Daesh caliphate in Syria. Over 110,000 square miles were liberated. Approximately 7.7 million people were freed from Daesh oppression. In Baghuz, Syria, where the final battle took place, a yellow flag was flown atop a building by U.S.-backed Syrian forces as they celebrated their victory over Daesh... MORE

Joint Training Center-Jordan partners with Civil Defence Department for emergency response training
March 7, 2020 — The Civil Defence Department (CDC) and Joint Training Center-Jordan (JTC-J) conducted an emergency response training event Wednesday. The event's intent was to test the overall response time of the CDD during a simulated building fire at JTC-J. At 10 a.m., a JTC-J fire alarm was pulled, and within minutes, two CDD fire trucks and an ambulance cleared the installation security checkpoint and were on scene... MORE

Civil Defence Department (CDD) paramedics treat simulated injuries at Joint Training Center-Jordan (JTC-J) Wednesday. The CDD and JTC-J partnered on the event with coordination from the Jordan Armed Forces. U.S. Soldiers are in Jordan to conduct partnership training with the JAF and other Jordanian partners. Medics train on bringing everyone home
March 5, 2020 — U.S. Army Maj. Michael Summitt, with 38th Infantry Division, Task Force Spartan, Indiana National Guard, serves as the medical provider and officer in charge at Joint Training Center-Jordan’s (JTC-J) Troop Medical Clinic. He has served a total of 33 years in the military, 22 of which were as an enlisted combat medic. In the civilian sector, he works in the radiation oncology department at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind., so he is no stranger to the medical profession. Summitt expressed the importance for his enlisted medics to be his “eyes and ears” with patients, explaining that medical personnel are never a finished product and there is always room for improvements...
