We are headquartered at Shaw Air Force Base, outside of Sumter, South Carolina, home to the 20th Fighter Wing, the Air Force's largest combat F-16 wing. Also located at Shaw AFB are Ninth Air Force HQ and U.S. Air Forces Central Command HQ, the air component of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
South Carolina is a unique state with a beautiful year-round climate, situated with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and mountains to the west. The city of Sumter, named for Revolutionary War hero General Thomas Sumter, embraces the slogan 'uncommon patriotism' and provides a warm & friendly community for the men, women, and families of the U.S. Armed Forces. Columbia, South Carolina's capital city and home to Fort Jackson, is approximately 45 miles to the west, less than an hour drive from Shaw AFB.

You are required to in-process Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, S1 before you sign in with your directorate. After you sign in, your section representative will assist you with the additional requirements for in-processing.
During non-duty hours, please report to the Access Control Services main reception desk at the South entrance of Patton Hall. You will then be directed to the Battalion Staff Duty Desk to sign-in from leave. If you have any problems or questions, please call the Staff Duty Desk at 803-885-8770.

The normal duty uniform for USARCENT is the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Army Combat Uniform (ACU).

In-processing for U.S. Army Central civilians takes place at the Fort Jackson Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) in Columbia, SC. Incoming civilian hires may call the CPAC at 803-751-3219 for additional information.
The U.S. Army Central Civilian Personnel Division (CPD) at Patton Hall, Shaw AFB advises on strategic and tactical human resource management needs; directs HR management services; staffing, classification, pay administration, employee and management relations, and other functions, as appropriate, for the command.
