Task Force Spartan Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment, 75th Field Artillery Brigade, showcased their ability to rapidly deploy High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers anywhere in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility within hours during AMDEX 21-1. Air and Missile Defense Exercise 21-1, which started Oct. 12, develops and exercises tactics, techniques, and procedures against simulated air, cyber, force protection and missile threats.

A CH-47 Chinook helicopter, operated by Soldiers with Bravo Company, 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade takes off from an airfield for a local area orientation flight in the 28th ECAB's area of operations after arriving in the Middle East. As Theater Army and Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC), USARCENT enables the Joint Force in named operations and partners with regional land forces to build enduring coalitions that CONSOLIDATE gains against Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs), COUNTER Iranian malign influence, and COMPETE against Russia and China; while simultaneously RESETTING the Theater for future operations and READY to prevail in crisis response and contingency operations in support of USCENTCOM.

Soldiers of Task Force Spartan partner with their staff-level counterparts in the Kuwait Land Forces for the command post exercise Desert Observer. The exercise allows the two militaries to share, explore, and refine communication techniques and any differences in the ways they perform their duties. Command post exercises are scenario-based exercises in which situations are introduced by observers into the scenario. The staff reacts to the situations according to established protocols with the intent to evaluate how efficiently those protocols are and where they can improve.

Arriving at their destination on July 23, 2018, soldiers with the U.S. Army’s Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment and the Jordanian Army’s 29th Royal HIMARS Battalion quickly unchained the Jordanian M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and offloaded it from the C-17 Globemaster III during the bi-Lateral Lion Flight live-fire training exercise.
