In this undated photo, a U.S. Army Soldier poses next to a sign indicating the Red Ball Express route. The 82-day operation was a critical logistics effort during WW II to supply the First and Third Armies as they advanced across France.  At its peak, the Red Ball Express delivered 12,500 tons of supplies per day.
