Lt. Gen. Terry R. Ferrell, commanding general, U.S. Army Central, passes the colors to Maj. Gen. Michel M. Russell Sr., incoming commanding general, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, during a change of command ceremony held July 13, 2021 outside Fowler Hall at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The passing of the colors from an outgoing commander to an incoming commander ensures that the unit and its Soldiers are never without official leadership, represents a continuation of trust, and signifies an allegiance of Soldiers to their unit's commander.
