On June 14th, 1775, the Continental Congress established our Army. It began with just ten companies of riflemen who pledged to enlist as soldiers for one year to face the world l s strongest military of that day.
Through the centuries, our Army grew into the most lethal land force in the world. From winning our nation's independence to preserving the Union through the Civil War; from liberating people across Europe, the Pacific and the Middle East to defending our borders here at home, Soldiers answered the call, through every season, through every sacrifice.
Today, ARCENT Soldiers remain focused on combat readiness, supporting warfighting efforts, and lethality. They are forward deployed across the Middle East and Central Asia, ready to defeat and destroy those who threaten our homeland, our partners and allies, and our American way of life.
On the Army's Birthday, we thank every Soldier, Civilian and Family member who has ever served in our ranks for your dedication to duty and the selfless service that have made us all Army Strong. Happy Birthday!
