SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – U.S. Army Central has released the name of a soldier who died on Nov. 7, 2015 in Columbia, S.C. in a non-combat related incident.
Sgt. 1st Class Zachary Quick, 39, of Woodbridge, Va., entered active-duty service in August 2002. He had been assigned to U.S. Army Central since September 2015.
Quick deployed six times during his time in the Army. He deployed to Afghanistan three times, Iraq twice and once to Jordan.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of Quick’s death.
