U.S. Army Central Change of Command

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – U.S. Army Central will welcome a new commanding general in a change of command ceremony here at Lucky Park near U.S. Army Central Headquarters at Shaw Air Force Base on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m.

 

Maj. Gen. Michael X. Garrett arrives from U.S. Central Command, Tampa, Florida and will take over duties as the commanding general for U.S. Army Central from Lt. Gen. James L. Terry, who is retiring after 37 years of active duty service. Terry’s retirement from active duty will be part of the change of command ceremony.

 

The ceremony will be preceded by Garrett’s promotion to Lt. Gen. at 9 a.m. in front of U.S. Army Central Headquarters.

Headquartered in Sumter and forward headquarters in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, our presence preserves regional stability and security. U.S. Army Central provides the strategic land power that prevents conflict, shapes the environment and, when necessary, wins the Nation’s wars.

 

Interested media should contact U.S. Army Central Public Affairs no later than Nov. 13. Media is not permitted on Shaw Air Force Base without prior coordination, vehicle registration, proof of insurance and driver’s license.
