MAJOR GENERAL DOUGLAS C. CRISSMAN

Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Central

 

Major General Douglas C. Crissman assumed duties as the Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army Central (USARCENT) on July 10, 2020. He received his commission from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, N.Y., in 1988, graduating with a Bachelor of Science. He also holds a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

 

He has served in a variety of command and staff positions throughout his career. Prior to becoming the Deputy Commanding General of USARCENT, Major General Crissman served as the Director of the Mission Command Center of Excellence Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Other assignments include serving as the Deputy Commander of 3rd (United Kingdom) Division in Bulford, United Kingdom; Deputy Commanding General (Support), 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; the Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force-3, United States Forces-Afghanistan with the 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters in Afghanistan; and Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, of the 3rd Infantry Division.

 

Major General Crissman’s command assignments include 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division; 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division; and Bravo Company, 3d Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division. His operational assignments include OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION NEW DAWN, and OPERATION FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.

 

He is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School in Norfolk, Virginia. MG Crissman completed an Army War College Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin where he studied national security policy and leadership prior to serving on the Army Staff as the Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Army.

 

Major General Crissman is authorized to wear the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Combat Action Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
