Lieutenant General Kevin C. Leahy

Lieutenant General Kevin Leahy is an Army Special Forces Officer who most recently served as the acting Deputy Commander of US Central Command. A native of Oakland, New Jersey, LTG Leahy began his military career in the Army Reserve in December 1989. While at the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania, he joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps and commissioned as a Military Police Officer in May 1993.
LTG Leahy completed the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1998 and was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for the first time. Over the course of multiple assignments to 5th SFG (A), LTG Leahy served in leadership positions at the detachment, company, battalion, and group levels culminating as the Group Commander from 2015-2017. LTG Leahy participated in multiple operational and combat deployments to the US Central Command area of operations with 5th SFG(A).
His previous command-level positions include Commander, Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve; Commander, United States Special Operations Command – Central (MacDill Air Force Base, Florida); Commander, Special Operations Command Africa Forward – Central Africa (Uganda); Deputy Commander, Special Operations Command Central (MacDill AFB, Florida); and Deputy Commanding General (Operations), 7th Infantry Division (Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington). LTG Leahy has also served in a variety of staff positions, most recently as the Joint Staff, Deputy Director for Strategy Plans and Policy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Scranton and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff College.
LTG Leahy is married to Tracy and they have four children.
