Army Land at the Shaw Air Expo

U.S. Army Central is proud to participate in the 2016 Shaw Air Expo "Thunder over the Midlands." The air expo, headlined by the Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Force precision-flying demonstration team, and the Black Daggers, the official U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team gives team Shaw the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of the Army and Air Force through a variety of aerial demonstrations, static displays and military equipment. Among the many attractions at the air expo, participants will find a variety of demonstrations and displays from the Army's newest equipment to vintage ground and air vehicles. See what it's like to sit inside an M-1 Abrams Tank,  Apache Longbow helicopter, and other Army equipment. Black Daggers

The Black Daggers perform live aerial demonstrations in support of Army community relations and recruiting. Composed of volunteers from throughout Army special operations, the Black Daggers have a diverse backgrounds and are skilled in various military specialties including Special Forces, Rangers, civil affairs, psychological operations, and signal and support. With an average age of 33 and an average number of free-fall jumps at 560, the team represents the professionalism and dedication of Army special forces.

82nd Combat Aviation Brigade

The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, as part of the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is considered the most decorated Aviation Brigade in the United States Army. The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade maintains a high state of readiness and rapidly deploys in support of the Global Response Force to conduct decisive aviation operations worldwide to enable the ground force commander with air assault, air movement, attack, reconnaissance, and medical evacuation capability. The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, having demonstrated its ability to fulfill its mission through multiple combat campaigns, stands ready to deploy as part of America's Guard of Honor. 82nd CAB will provide UH-60 and AH-64 helicopters and provide an aerial demonstration.

   

South Carolina National Guard

The South Carolina National Guard supports and participates in events throughout the state of to benefit citizens and give them insight in the National Guard. The South Carolina National Guard will provide a number of static air and ground displays to include the M-1 Abrams Tank, M-2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the Apache Longbow and much more. 

       

Mobile Exhibit Company

The Mobile Exhibit Company is part of the U.S. Army’s Mission Support Battalion. The Mobile Exhibit Company connects America’s Army with America’s people by conducting professional mobile and fixed exhibits. Shaw Air Expo participants can join the Mobile Exhibit Team on the Interactive Semis and Distracted Driving Trailer. Participants with a driver’s license or driver’s permit can experience what it’s like to drive distracted, and go inside the interactive semis to learn more about the Army.

The Research Development and Engineering Command is the Army’s technology leader and largest technology developer. RDECOM ensures the dominance of Army capabilities by creating, integrating and delivering technology-enabled solutions to our Soldiers. RDECOM ensures decisive capabilities for unified land operations to empower the Army, the joint warfighter and our nation.

      

Celebrate Freedom Foundation

"Maggie" and "Annie", two of the Celebrate Freedom Foundation's AH-1F Cobra Attack Helicopters, will be flying and on display to support the thrilling 2016 Thunder Over the Midlands". Celebrate Freedom Foundation will additionally have a number of other Army helicopters and historic military vehicles at this major show. The Celebrate Freedom Foundation is an educational, non-profit corporation dedicated to educating children, promoting lasting patriotism and honoring the military - past, present and future.
